Scientists eye global warming's role in severe storms

They have connected man-made climate change to deadly heat waves, droughts and devastating floods. Scientists also say a warmer planet means more severe storms like the recent Hurricane Hermine. New CIRES Director: Waleed Abdalati

The Council of Fellows and University of Colorado Boulder have selected Waleed Abdalati, Ph.D., as the new director of the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES). Record Setting Funding by CIMMS

The Cooperative Institute for Mesoscale Meteorological Studies (CIMMS) expenditures in CY 12 were a record $14.17M. This is a record for both CIMMS and any OU unit, and culminated a more than 11-fold increase over the last 20 years.
